Keep Fighting the Good Fight! Worship Wednesday

Keep Fighting The Good Fight ~ Worship Wednesday | CherryBlossomKitchen.com

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I get overwhelmed by the busyness of everyday life sometimes! So, I try to stop the world, get on my treadmill, and run/walk to burn off steam, clear my head and torch some excess calories. It’s so true what they say about ‘endorphins’: when you exercise, your body releases them and interacts with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and also triggers a positive feeling in the body. What a wonderful way to get a feeling of well-being, just by moving! Running really clears my mind of clutter, and when I listened to this song while on the treadmill today, I felt like God was speaking to me right where I was, running and sweating! He clearly takes advantage of situations when He can speak to us via His Word, praise songs, people, and yes, even pets. Anyway, I’ve listened to this song many times before, but hearing it today while running, I really felt God dropped a message of Him being here for me, down into my heart, it was such a memorable moment. ♥

One of the verses in the song says “keep letting your light shine” which very much reminds me of an old friend/exercise buddy of mine, Sheila Richards Harper. You may have been familiar with her, she was a radio personality at Christian and Country radio stations throughout her career. I met her when we lived in Peachtree City, GA many years ago where she was a DJ at The Joy 93.3 FM. Anyway, she was known for ending her radio show by reminding her listeners to ‘Let Your Light Shine’. She was indeed a shining light for Jesus. I say ‘was’, because she sadly lost her battle with cancer 6 years ago…God had other wonderful plans for Sheila in heaven.

Take a listen to the song below called ‘Good Fight’ by the Christian band Unspoken. I hope it’ll give you a lift today!

Unspoken ~ Good Fight

Until you stop breathing
Until you stop bleeding
Until your heart stops kick-drum beating
When it’s hard times
When it’s long days
And the enemy is right up in your face
When your back’s against the ropes and you’re feeling all alone

Keep fighting the good fight (Never give up, never give up)
Keep letting your light shine (Holding it high as long as you live)
‘Cause I’m never gonna leave you
Always gonna see you through to the other side
Keep fighting the good fight, fighting the good
fighting the good fight, good fight

Even in the road blocks (yeah)
Even through the rough spots
When you’re feeling you’ve given all that you’ve got
I’m with you in the next step
Giving you in the next breath
I’ll be the voice saying “You’re gonna make it”
When you’re out there on your own
You are never alone

Keep fighting the good fight (Keep fighting the good fight)
(Never give up, never give up)
Keep letting your light shine (Keep letting your light shine)
(Holding it high as long as you live)
‘Cause I’m never gonna leave you
Always gonna see you through to the other side
Keep fighting the good fight, fighting the good
fighting the good fight, good fight

Just keep on singing (Keep on singing)
And keep on dancing (Just keep on dancing)
Joy will be your banner
And My love will be your anthem
And you may never know what your tomorrow holds
But you can know that I am holding your tomorrow

Keep fighting the good fight
Keep letting your light shine
Keep fighting the good fight (Keep fighting the good fight)
(Never give up, never give up)
Keep letting your light shine (Keep letting your light shine)
(Holding it high as long as you live)
‘Cause I’m never gonna leave you
Always gonna see you through to the other side
Keep fighting the good fight, fighting the good,
fighting the good fight, good fight

Fighting the good fight

Let your light shine! You are missed, Sheila!!
